Trese Mack

(she/her)
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Being a therapist is such a fulfilling experience. No two clients are the same and I am constantly growing and learning alongside my clients. My approach to sessions is very client led. I may have the therapy toolbox, but ultimately only the client will know what is going to be a fit for them. This is why taking the time to build a strong therapeutic relationship is important. While clients sometimes wish changes could happen overnight, I enjoy working to take the time you need and identify the meaningful small changes we tend to overlook in our fast-paced society.

My approach to therapy comes from training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), person-centered techniques, with touches of mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused therapy. My therapy toolbox is constantly growing as my interests change and as my clients’ needs change. While therapy techniques are important, it is also important to find a therapist that is a good fit, whatever that means for the client. I predominantly work with adults. I often see clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, life transitions, and self-esteem.

“We are all just walking each other home.”
— Ram Dass

I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, suburbs of Seattle to be more specific. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Central Washington University, then moved to the other side of Washington to complete my Masters in Psychology with a clinical emphasis at Eastern Washington University. After completing my education I made the big move to Central Illinois, changing my view of evergreens and Mt. Rainier for corn and soybean fields.

Growing up in the greater Seattle area we never got a lot of snow, so I always felt snow-deprived. This is one reason why I believe I became such a lover of snow. Winter is probably my favorite season and snowboarding and sledding bring me so much joy.
