ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

We have all encountered struggles in life, times when worries, fears, responsibilities, and pain are too much to bear alone. Changes and unexpected turns in life can feel overwhelming, and even bring up feelings of despair. Sometimes, you need a compassionate space where you can work to find your way. During sessions, I aim to make sure my clients feel safe opening up about their innermost thoughts, struggles and worries.

The stresses of caregiving or chronic illness can wear us down. You might find yourself feeling frequently tired or irritable, dealing with tension, sadness, and feelings of depression. Big and unexpected changes in our life can leave us feeling lost. I am ready to help. When life gives you a hundred reasons to break down and despair, I want to help you find the tools and support to smile again and enjoy being you.

I specialize in assisting adults with life transition struggles, anxiety, depression, managing life when dealing with chronic illnesses, and issues unique to adult caregivers. Everyone is unique and there is no single approach that is right for every individual. I will collaborate with you and guide you through the journey of making meaningful changes in your life. I use a strengths-based approach to identify your unique abilities and individual needs and goals. I draw from cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches and use motivational interviewing and expressive therapies as well.

Rest assured my office is a safe place where you will be listened to and heard, sessions will be based on what you are wanting to address, and there might even be a bit of laughing together. I find humor is one of the gateways to healing.

“Just be yourself. Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed,
quirky, weird, beautiful, and magical person that you are.”

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker having earned my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2002. I specialize in assisting adults with life transition struggles, anxiety, depression, managing life when dealing with chronic illnesses, and issues unique to adult caregivers.

Flower and vegetable gardening have long been a passion of mine, along with using the vegetables I grow and creating new and delicious dishes. I love creating stained

glass pieces and sharing those with others. Something about the vibrancy of the colors dancing in sunlight brightens up one’s soul. I also use antique rug hooking to create unique pieces to decorate bare walls.

I'm not only a crazy cat lady but also a crazy dog lady, and choose to care for and love animals that have been mistreated no matter the age of the animal. Currently I have one cat and four dogs.
